Shaoxing

We made it back to Shaoxing without incident. Wenguo's brother-in-law picked us up at the Huangzhou airport and drove us to the hotel. The hotel room looks pretty clean and is large enough. But there is no crib and no tub. I'm not sure how we're going to wash her. She just started to love the tub! I couldn't get her out last night...

Our hotel room has internet access so we can continue to post pictures!

Shuya is pretty good natured except she has a temper and has learned some bad manners at the orphanage. I am sure some of her behavior is just survival instincts. We've started telling her when she's doing something wrong. Sometime's she has a fit if we tell her that she should not be doing something. She throws a little temper tantrum. We can usually calm her down by distracting her with food! I'm not sure that's a good long term solution but for now we just want to gain her trust.

She took to Wenguo's family right away! Lots of smiles for grandma and grampa!

Hi Dan & Wenguo,

It's good that you are in Shaoxing now. But could you please delete that machine translation - that's too bad!

I agree. The translation sounds really funny. But hey, for the fun of it, why not try it once in a while:-)

She is fine. Please don't get sad when she gives you fit. You must heard of 'terrible 2', right? Almost all kids go through this at different stage and to a different degree. She will get the rules figured out soon or later with your help. It needs time and work that I know for sure.
I can tell she has such happy nature. Those smiles are contangous! She is a dolly doll, and I am sure she will make you two proud parents.
By the way, Wenguo, "Happy Mother's Day!" You have all the reason to celebrete it this coming Sunday!

Well she's about to learn even more bad habits from Ava who is insisting that she do everything her "own self." I was beginning to worry about Shuya being so angelic and all. Happy to hear she's a normal toddler. (And no matter how many times you hear that these behaviors are normal, you still worry that your daughter will never stop with the whining, tantrums, or whatever it is that's challenging you that day.) They're still little angels, though, aren't they?

I agree with Peng. It's fun, I mean the machine translation ... and it's informative to non-english speakers. Of course, it sounds horrible for professionals such as Guokuan (Abel).

I could not read the translation (I did not install any Chinese language reader software at work) till I opened it up at home last night. It did sound funny and was bit ambiguous here and there.....

Although you guys got home, I guess you still cannot kick back and relax yet. There are still some getherings or activities with families and friends.

I can't wait to see you folks.
